Description

Acerola C is a 100% natural vitamin C complex that provides nature's wholesome goodness found in fruits and vegetables in a capsule.

Made from Acerola cherries, one of nature’s richest sources of vitamin C, it is a powerful antioxidant highly bioavailable for healthy repair, boosting immunity and nutrient synergy.

For the EU, the following nutrition and health claims for vitamin C have been positively assessed by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA):

Vitamin C contributes to:

  • normal function of the immune system.

  • normal collagen formation for the normal function of blood vessels, bones, cartilage, gums, teeth and skin.

  • normal energy-yielding metabolism.

  • normal functioning of the nervous system and psychological function.

  • contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress, and reduction of tiredness and fatigue

The conditions and restrictions of use for these claims are published in the "EU Register on nutrition and health claims".

The Acerola cherry is preferred over synthetic vitamin C, rosehips and camu camu even though the latter has high vitamin C content because acerola vitamin C possesses the highest bioavailability. Bioavailability is the ability of the vitamin to be absorbed and used by the body. Since vitamin C is essential and can only be obtained daily through the diet as the body cannot manufacture or store it, the bioavailability  factor of the vitamin is important.
